May 25th
Still in the paradise.
Early in the morning i took the bike and went to a place where you can get fresh sardines for some Dollars.
I bought 12 sardines for 1 B$.
The plan for today: get fish for dinnner!
Caroline, Iris, Simon and I took the 2 kayaks of Bella’s and went out to catch some fish 😉
Iris and I got the „bad“ kayak, it was really hard to get back to the hostel.
The current outside was stronger that we thought, but we managed the situation well 😉
And the fishing did also not work that good.
Not a single fish.
Back at the apartment we decided to go to the „Split“.
We went swimming, tried to catch some fish again (5 mini fish) and had some beer’s at the bar nearby.
It was a very relaxing Sunday afternoon there.
In the evening we had a huge dinner at the hostel, a lot of people prepared different meals.
We had Bruschetta, rice & beans, tuna pasta, grilled fish and of course a lot of rum – we are in the Caribbean!
Sadly, I forgot to take any pictures this evening….
May 26th
Today is a decision day!
And we decided NOT to go to Lubaantun (near Punta Gorda in the south of Belize)!
San Ignacio is now the next stop.
We took the water taxi from Caye Caulker to Belize City – 25 B$
From there a taxi brought us to the bus station.
The first chicken bus!
The chicken buses are quite comfortable.
But after a while, the bus was full and more people came in.
I was now sitting between two locals in a row made for 2 people.
It wasn’t that bad 🙂
That’s the way to travel on a budget!
After 3 hours bus ride, we arrived in San Ignacio.
We will stay here fore some days and then head into Guatemala.
Checked in at Bella’s Backpackers again.
The guys from Caye Caulker recommended this place.
The dorms are only 15B$!
There we met River & Brian from BC in Canada.
2 very open minded people, they sold all their stuff in British Columbia and decided to find the right „Community“ to stay with.
We had dinner with them at a restaurant where they served Sri Lankan food.
Good night San Ignacio
May 27th
In the morning Flo and I went to the market to get some fruits & veggies.
We are going to share meals in the evening, i decided to prepare a vegan pasta (River and Brian are vegan).
After shopping we went to the mayan ruins here in San Ignacio.
It’s called „Cahal Pech“ which means „Place of Ticks“.
10B$ entry
worth a trip!
Back at the hostel, the owner of Bella’s asked us if we would like to visit her farm (@ Cristo Ray) and she also could show us the „monkey falls“ in the jungle.
Let’s go to the farm!
Afterwards we’ve been to the jungle.
At first we enjoyed a refreshing bath in the small lake.
When we came back to the hostel, River & Brian just started cooking.
So i also grabbed a knife and started cooking.
We had vegan pasta & a awesome vegan curry
Tomorrow is the last day here in San Ignacio, i think I’ll do nothing but reading and relaxing 😉
best regards
P.K.
